Why we switched to Employes
We were using a traditional payroll provider, a team of skilled and friendly professionals, but we ran into some limitations.
Our biggest challenge? Flexibility and expertise in one solution. We didn’t want to handle the complex aspects of payroll, like tax filings and pension integrations. But we did want the ability to make quick changes whenever needed.
For example, if we needed to adjust something on the 23rd, but the payroll run was scheduled for the 24th, it simply wasn’t possible with a payroll provider in between. Plus, every small change, no matter how minor, came with extra costs. Making us hesitant to make adjustments.
Another key requirement? A built-in expense module, something we really wanted in our payroll software.
Why we chose Employes
I first came across a recommendation from a contact on LinkedIn. When I looked into the software, I quickly realized it was exactly what I needed—a simple online portal where I could manage everything myself, without actually “doing” payroll.
What I mean by that is: you don’t need payroll expertise to get everything set up. And if something more complex came up, I could always count on quick support from a payroll expert or customer service representative at Employes. Roel helped us a lot back then!
What problem does Employes solve for you?
Flexibility, above all. I can make adjustments anytime: whether it's updating salary details, adding a new employee, or changing information on the spot.
With a traditional payroll provider, you usually have to submit changes via Excel or email, but with Employes, I can update everything myself in the same amount of time. It’s easier and saves money in the long run.
Plus, expenses, leave, and absence tracking are all integrated into one system, making it much more convenient for employees. In short: we spend less time and less money on payroll.
Did you consider other solutions?
We were already using Loket through our accountant, but the system wasn’t very user-friendly. You had to switch between the old and new portals, which was frustrating.
We didn’t really look at other options because we had already read so many positive reviews about Employes.
In the past, I worked with AFAS, but that system was far too complex. With Employes, I could try it out first, and from day one, I received great support from their team. So I didn’t feel the need to look elsewhere.
Would you recommend Employes?
Absolutely! Even when mistakes happen, because they sometimes do, Employes handles them quickly and efficiently.
